LimiTV received a grant in 2006 from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation to use a novel approach to help parents reduce children's time with TV and video games. LimiTV and the North Carolina PTA formed a partnership and together will work with PTA's in about 15 elementary schools to encourage parents to reduce children's media time to one hour or less per day.
The benefits to parents/caregivers, students, and schools from participating include:
- Improvements in student's academic performance and health
- A boost to children's self-confidence
- A reduction in children's aggressive behavior
- Improvements in school end-of-grade test scores
Through each school's PTA, LimiTV will provide parents with training and information that can help improve both health and academic achievement.
